2023 Summer Lab Retreat: A Day of Scientific Exploration, Celebration, and Fun!
/The 2023 summer Teichlab retreat took place on 16 June, Friday at the cosy Chestnut Suite, Hinxton Hall.
The gathering began with an overview from Sarah, where she summarised the lab’s research themes, ongoing projects and exciting publications to come.
But the retreat wasn't all about work—far from it! We kicked off a lighthearted self-introduction session, where each lab member presented one slide to show their non-scientific side. It was filled with laughter and surprise as hidden talents and unexpected hobbies were revealed :-D
Our retreat gained further intellectual stimulation through the enlightening talks from guest speaker Dr. Claire Walsh, who shared her fascinating work in HiP-CT imaging.
In the afternoon, people dove into breakout sessions with report-backs, discussing intriguing questions as below:
How can we examine the effects of ageing across datasets?
What experiment would you do with an unlimited budget?
How to effectively use large language models in biological science?
What are the best In vitro validation models and in vivo comparisons?
As the day drew to a close, Sarah graciously hosted a delightful BBQ at her house, where lab members and their families came together to enjoy delicious food and relaxed conversations. It was a perfect moment to unwind, bond, and appreciate the unique connections we share beyond the lab.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants who contributed to making this lab retreat an intellectually invigorating and socially enriching experience. Together, we are committed to scientific excellence, collaboration, and celebration.
Cheers to memories made and the discoveries yet to come!
